Review: Allies of Skin Triple Hyaluronic Antioxidant Hydration Serum | Gin and Glow

Allies of Skin is one of the hottest brand right now, the science-based skincare brand offers products with brilliant active ingredients & amazing formulations to ensure the effectiveness of the active itself & hydration and comfort.

Today I'll be reviewing one of Allies of Skin's product, the Triple Hyaluronic Antioxidant Serum. I really like the brand because they utilize the best active ingredients, but I didn't know where to get them, so I shoot them a message and they told me they're actually available in Sephora Indonesia.

I remembered making a trip to Sephora a few months ago and I was greeted with 4 Allies of Skin products, I decided to pick this one, making it my first Allies of Skin product.

Allies of Skin described this product as a hydration and repair serum with 3 forms of hyaluronic acid, resveratrol ferment, superoxide dismutase and other antioxidants to intensely hydrate, brighten and strengthen the skin. The product claims to provide skin with hydration, soothe the skin & reduce inflammation, stimulate collagen production & reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve skin's elasticity, repair signs of premature ageing, retain moisture and protect the skin from dangerous free radicals and environmental stress.

That's a lot of claim for one product, but let's take a look.
  • It contains 3 forms of hyaluronic acid - low molecular weight, high molecular weight and botanical polysaccharides. The low molecular weight HA can hydrate deeper while the high molecular weight HA can hydrate the top layer of the skin.
  • It contains brilliant antioxidants including tocophyerl acetate (vitamin E), 5% resveratol ferment and 2% superoxide dismutase (one of the most powerful antioxidants that superoxide - a by-product of oxygen metabolism that can cause serious cell damage).
  • It also has 5% niacinamide to help strengthen the skin barrier & brighten the skin, as well as regulate oil productions.
  • It has 2% palmitoyl tripeptide-38 to help promote collagen production, leading to reduced appearance of fine lines and improved skin elasticity.
  • Formulated with strawberry fruit extract to prevent the enzymatic break down of the skin's natural hyaluronic acid.
The serum comes in a blue plastic bottle. I have to admit that the packaging is minimal and simple, but I also find it modern & chic. It's also very functional because the airtight pump will protect all the good stuff in this product. To use, simply twist the cap and pump out the product.

The serum is orange in color and it's quite lightweight, however it feels a little bit tacky at first, but the tackiness quickly disappear. This serum definitely has fragrance and I actually dig the fragrance, Allies of Skin actually added fragrance (rose oil) into the mix to mask the scent of ingredients like superoxide dismutase. They're currently working on an essential-oil free version right now, so for those of you who are very sensitive to fragrance, sit tight, good things are coming!

I have been using this consistently in the morning and sometimes in the evening and I always notice an instant boost of hydration and my skin looks visibly plumper (this is always a sign of good hydration for me). I find this serum hydrating and moisturizing at the same time, to the level that sometimes, on very hectic days, I can just skip my moisturizer and everything will be just fine. I also feel that this serum soothes and calms my skin, random redness will just disappear, making it perfect to use with retinol. After using this longer, I also notice the niacinamide benefits (regulated oil production, slight brightening effects and healthier skin barrier).

As far as collagen production and appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, I cannot assess them since I don't have many to begin with, but judging by how it instantly plumps my skin, I think this might help reduce the appearance of fine lines (when a skin is well-hydrated, it becomes plump, thus any fine lines could appear minimised, but this is not a permanent effect).

I think this is an excellent product, I tried to not get super attached to this but I just can't. This has made its way to my heart and earned a permanent spot in my vanity. Not only it provides insane amount of long-lasting hydration, it also provides moisture and protection against free radicals, using this consistently also helped with my skin barrier issues & brightened my skin. Whenever I use this, I save a lot of precious time because it feels like using 3 different serums in one go (hydrating, brightening and antioxidant serum).

In conclusion, I love this serum. Yes it's on the pricier side of the spectrum, but for the quality and the results, definitely worth every penny. From the thoughtful packaging, amazing ingredients & good results, I'm in love and I will definitely repurchase. Allies of Skin really did put a lot of effort in this product and I can see that, well done.
