Review: Dear Me Beauty Skin Barrier Water Cream | Gin and Glow

Dear Me Beauty is a popular local brand, known for their various lip products. As of recently, Dear Me Beauty has been dabbling in the skincare realm and released a moisturizer that went pretty viral.

Dear Me Beauty's Skin Barrier Water Cream is the brand's newest addition to their skincare range. Previously, their skincare line was consisted of a cleansing balm, a face mist and a multipurpose gel, but now they have launched this moisturizer and a bunch of serums are coming to the market very soon.

I decided to buy this moisturizer because first, I'm very curious and second, the packaging is too cute. I've been using this for two weeks and I'm ready to give you my full review. Keep on reading!
Skin Barrier Water Cream is described as a 2-in-1 day and night moisturizer that's formulated to strengthen the skin barrier and fight signs of ageing. It is also equipped with blue light shield technology to protect the skin from use of gadgets and also environmental stress. Aside from that, it also claims to hydrate the skin and balance out the skin.

Key ingredients: 5% niacinamide, ceramide, peptide, hyaluronic acid and centella asiatica.

The moisturizer comes in a very adorable red jar, minimal but cute. By the way, the packaging heavily influenced my decision, because it was just too cute. It comes with a spatula, however the spatula was too tiny to use.

The product has a nice cream-to-gel texture that melts into the skin almost immediately. It feels very lightweight, non-greasy and not sticky. It feels nice and has a slight cooling sensation that I find refreshing. To my surprise, this does not smell like anything!

I find this cream hydrating enough, it packs a decent amount of hydration and it seals in moisture too. It also has soothing abilities and it reduced redness on my skin. Since this cream has 5% niacinamide in it, I can skip my niacinamide serum and just proceed with sunscreen. It also helps maintain a healthy skin barrier through ingredients like niacinamide and ceramide.

I personally enjoy using this in the morning because it feels fresh and it feels lightweight. When paired with a good moisturizing sunscreen, my skin feels hydrated & moisturized througout the day. However at night, this doesn't provide enough moisture for my skin and I ended up using a few drops of face oil on top of it.

Although this cream claims to strengthen our skin barrier - and it kinda did that, I don't think it helps repair and restore a severely damaged skin barrier because the texture is too light to seal in hydration, especially when the barrier is seriously damaged.

In conclusion, I like this as a daytime moisturizer because it's light, comfortable and provides great hydration, and it also layers well with sunscreen. It also has calming effects. But at night I prefer something thicker and creamier. Despite that, I still think this product is a good, simple yet multi-faceted moisturizer.

I think this is suitable for all skin types, but from my experience, I think those with oily skin would appreciate this even more. For very dry skin, I don't think this would work for you. One final word, the spatula needs some work.

Anyway that's it for today's review. Let me know if you have tried this one!
