Review: Kiehl's Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask | Gin and Glow

We all know avocado is good for our health, right? But do you know it's good for the skin as well? Kiehl's recently launched their Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask that can help you gain all the avo benefits in just 10 minutes.

I first saw this on Kiehl's Instagram page, to be honest, I was interested - so when I got an e-mail that it's finally available in Indonesia, I ordered mine. Me being me, I bought the smaller jar, because I thought if I bought the big jar and my skin don't like it, it would be a waste, right?

So, hydrating mask.. Sounds pretty boring, right? But this one's different, and you're about to find out why. If you're interested in my thoughts on this very interesting mask, keep reading!
According to Kiehl's, this mask is formulated with avocado fruit extract, avocado oil and evening primrose oil to nourish the skin and prevent water loss from the skin by sealing in moisture, leaving the skin super soft.

So onto the packaging, it comes in the usual Kiehl's packaging. A jar and a lid. This one's green (they have several different masks, each has different colored jars and serves different purposes). I have travelled with Kiehl's masks before and they don't leak or anything. The packaging is simple and you can find pretty much anything you need to know on it.

The texture of the product is surprising. When you hear hydrating mask you expect a cream or gel texture, right? This mask has the texture of a freshly mashed avocado. It has a faint smell of avocado as well. Leaving me feelin' like an avocado toast when I have this on my face. Me love avocado toast.
Although the texture is very unique, it's quite tricky to work with. You have to scoop a generous amount and apply it evenly on your face, it's a little chunky so you have to be a little more patient. However, when you're done applying, it doesn't dry, it's like applying butter (lol), once you really worked it into your skin, it kinda melts a little.

This product contains avocado fruit extract to help moisturizes the skin and seals in moisture. It also contains avocado oil (safe for oily skin but might still be comedogenic, so be careful) derived from avocado fruit - avocado oil contains lipids and essential fatty acids and has a rich texture, this will help moisturize and soften the skin. Lastly, evening primrose oil (I used to take this orally) that is known to help maintain hydration and elasticity.

I applied this mask on my face for 5-10 minutes, rinse it and I immediately feel like my skin is so soft. But that's just it, my skin feels nourished and extra soft and smooth. There's no cooling/de-puffing sensation, no scrub beads, nothing else. It's just an instant boost in hydration and smoothness. I applied this mask when I had some dry patches on my skin due to using too much glycolic acid and it immediately softens those dry patches.

Having combination skin, I don't think I really need this mask. But I love to keep it in my shelf just in case my skin gets super dry. This mask would be ideal for those with extra dry skin, though. Or if you live somewhere that has winter, you might like this. I personally like it, but not for every occasion.

Would I repurchase this? I don't think so - not because I hate it, more like I don't really need it. I have hydrating masks in my skincare stash that are not as thick as this but serve the same purpose.

In conclusion, I don't hate it, I like it a little.
