Review: Dear Me Beauty Perfect Matte Lip Coat | Gin and Glow

Dear Me Beauty is one of the most popular local beauty brands. Although now they have released cleansing balms, foundations & concealers that are loved by a lot of people, their most popular product to me is still their Perfect Matte Lip Coat.

Hi everyone, today I would like to review the lovely and popular Dear Me Beauty Perfect Matte Lip Coat. This product has been around for awhile and I heard about it 2 years ago through a good friend of mine, however at that time I wasn't really interested because I find the shade range lackluster.

This product was on sale few weeks ago and when I clicked, I found out that now they have reds! I got excited and I bought 3. Now if you're interested on what I think about these lip coats, keep on reading!

Dear Me Beauty Perfect Matte Lip Coat is described as a 'lip cream', basically it's a matte liquid lipstick that won't dry your lips out. Available in a lot of shades, I only bought 3 because most of those shades are boring neutrals & unflattering pinks.

The shades I got are: Dear Janice, Dear Raisha and Dear Patricia.

Dear Raisha and Dear Patricia are both from their Radiant Reds collection, while Dear Janice is a part of their regular collection, I assume.

The packaging is pretty basic but I like it. It's very minimal and chic, not tacky at all. It has a doe foot applicator to make application easy. Most part of the tube is opaque, however there's a clear part at the bottom so you can identify which tube is which color quite easily.

These lip coats are opaque in one swipe, however feel free to layer it if you feel the need to. It's very lightweight so layering it won't be a problem. It dries down pretty quickly and the finish is matte. It feels light on the lips, a bit powdery but still very comfortable.

They last pretty long too, I even tested it by eating and drinking and the lip coat is still there. It faded a bit but the fade was pretty, leaving me with a beautiful stain on the lips.

Dear Janice is a light warm nude. It's a straight up warm nude, perfect. It reminds me of MAC Myth, but this one is matte while Myth is satin. Dear Janice quickly made her way to my heart since it's not too pink, orange or coral, it's just pure, warm nude.

Dear Raisha is descriped as a red tulip color and I have no idea what that means. Maybe the meant poppy red? Not sure either. This is the most disappointing shade of all 3 I got, when I applied it, it leans more towards pink instead of red despite being in the 'Radiant Reds' collection. I know, it's a pinkish red, but to me it seems to be a reddish pink.

Dear Patricia is a deep brick red. Despite being 'brick red', Dear Patricia is not too orange, so I think it's very flattering on any skin tone. Dear Patricia is also a favorite of mine because the color is very sophisticated and it stands out from all the boring neutrals Dear Me Beauty has to offer.

Here are the swatches on the back of my hand (from top to bottom: Dear Janice, Dear Raisha, Dear Patricia).

I know Dear Raisha looks red in this photo, trust me, it doesn't. On the lips, it's like a weird reddish pink, very unflattering on me.

In conclusion, these lip coats are amazing. The formula is light yet pigmented & long-wearing, and it's also non-drying. I really enjoy wearing these lip coats, Dear Patricia in particular.

However, if you decided to buy this, good luck picking a shade because they offer like 20 different neutrals that look very similar to each other.
